How Not To Build Links for Your Website for Better Rankings

As a webmaster or blogger, when it comes to search engine rankings, there are many things that we need to put in place in order to lift our website or blog. Apart from writing awesome contents, publishing at the right frequency, getting recommendations from other websites on the web about your contents etc. you haven’t done anything if you don’t know how to promote your contents around the web using every marketing techniques. Getting natural links to your blog post or website page is a great way for staying at the top of search engine pages for so long driving unlimited leads to your website. But, when you were unable to get more people visiting your website even with large chunks of posts on your website, what are the things you need to put in place in order to get traffic?

I guess you might have been thinking of asking such kind of question right? Never worry because I know how you might feel writing more and getting lesser visitors to read your contents. It had happened to me once before on my technology blog, when majority of my posts get demoted from search pages all because I was not doing the right thing. And those things I was doing wrong were things I’m about to reveal to you in this post only if you can spend few of your minutes to read and take action on them.

What happened to my website pages weren’t keyword stuffing or some kind of things that is common about SEO because I know you might have been thinking that was what occurred to my blog. But, you were wrong if you think that way!

My blog gets de-ranked because I was not doing the right thing while building links for the site, and here are the things I was doing absolutely wrong which brings about the suspension before getting back.

Building Links from Low Ranking Websites

One of the greatest and silliest mistakes I ever made when I was doing link building for my automated seo article was getting recommendations from low ranking blogs out there. I detest big and high ranking blogs for smaller ones with the aims that they were almost the same things entirely. Unknown to me that present rankings focuses on present good recommendations, not future thing.

With the recent Google algorithm update, it states that any website that get backlinks from low ranking blogs and spamming sites will get demoted from search results – it does occurred to until I took time to retrace my steps and correct the errors before the site started getting indexed and ranked well.

Focusing on Single Keyword Campaigns

It is now clear that getting backlinks from low ranking websites is a sign when it comes to the SEO business of a thing but I must confess to you that there’s even more interesting and frustrating rule in the recent google algorithm change.

Using one single keyword to link to your website pages could affect your current search engine rankings because the new update stress that bloggers getting too much links from other pages with a single keyword looks more spamming than getting few links with no keyword. So the way out of this is that you should focus on building more backlinks for your blog or website by using variation of keywords.

Also, you must consider long tier keywords as well, don’t focus on easy to remember keywords, find those keywords that is low on competition and optimize your site for them.

Not Considering My Website Sitemap

Sitemap are great way for telling search engines how your website is structured. It is the best way for showing the mapping of your website; from the sales page to the contact page, from buy now page to the thank you page and more. Having a web structured sitemap will allow search engine bots to have the idea of what is on your site and where those things were located.

I didn’t take this serious as well and it really affects my website performance on Google pages and even some other search engines until these were corrected.
